The first action game of the Russian programming studio Burut, which in 2004 created another game of the same genre called Kreed. Inspiration to create the East Front was drawn from such titles as Call of Duty, Counter-Strike and Shogo: Mobile Armor Division.

The plot begins with a real, from a historical point of view, German expedition to Tibet. In 1938, Ernst Sheffer's expedition, sponsored by the Nazi occult organization Ahnenerbe, reached its destination, the Tibetan city of Lhasa. Despite the warm welcome prepared by the monks there, Ernst Sheffer found nothing that the members of Ahnenerbe had hoped for - so he returned to Berlin with empty hands... That was the reality - in the East Front the producers offer an alternative vision of this event. In Tibet, Ernst Sheffer's expedition had the secret knowledge to bring the dead back to life. Long-lasting experiments resulted in the creation of Super Soldiers, almost indestructible and fearless killing machines. It turned out that these units have one disadvantage - some areas in their brain, responsible for subordination and duty of the dead, which makes them unable to execute orders. Some time later, the calm course of experience was interrupted by the intervention of the German resistance movement, which declared war on the forces of the Third Reich. The player plays the role of the protagonist Karl Stolz, who so far has personally participated in Dr. Sheffer's project.

Fully interactive game world is based on a new physical engine created for the needs of the East Front. It ensures the preservation of the elementary laws of physics, such as strength or probability of fracture. It also allows for a unique interaction with the game world (possibility of influencing various objects, objects fall according to natural trajectory, etc.), practically every element visible on the screen can be more or less deformed, moved or finally destroyed. The body of a shot enemy (which can be lifted and used as a "living" shield) falls exactly as it is in the real world, because each character or object has its own individual physical attributes.

Campaign mode missions are very different: from the diversion of enemy bases, through infiltration of secret chemical laboratories and submarines, to crazy car chases (the player only has the ability to shoot and not control the vehicle). Each task can be solved in many ways, so the unbroken advantage is the non-linearity of the game. Decisions made during the game have a direct impact on the course of the next campaign. The majority of combat operations (about 70% of the total) are carried out by the user together with a group of other soldiers, and the user himself is not the commander of the unit, but only a member of the unit (so he has to carry out orders of his superiors).

A total of ten separate levels have been prepared. Passing through successive missions, the player encounters many unfavorable people (concentration camp prisoners fighting for survival, mentally ill people, SS officers, Wehrmacht soldiers or fantastic characters created for the game). Each of them is characterized by well-developed artificial intelligence, thanks to which the enemy on the battlefield can behave rationally. For example, the weapon reloads in a safe position or waiting for support while on its own. Fourteen types of weapons have been prepared for the player, including the German machine gun MP-40 and MG-42. It is worth mentioning that each model resembles a real equivalent.

Author's special engine "Liv Kristine" is responsible for the simulation of human emotions, while the three-dimensional graphic engine "X-TEND" is responsible for generating high-level visual setting (e.g. skeleton construction of models, thanks to which such details as: fingers, eye animation, etc. were well reproduced). Additionally, East Front enables multiplayer multiplayer multiplayer fun.
