Refreshed and content-enhanced version of the "cinematic" PS4 horror from 2015. The new version of Until Dawn expands on the story, introduces a TPP camera, as well as improves the graphics quality thanks to using Unreal Engine 5.
Until Dawn is a refreshed and content-enhanced version of the horror action-adventure game from 2015. The game was developed by the British studio Ballistic Moon and is its debut project.
Until Dawn tells the story known from the original, but the whole thing has been expanded with new story plots.
The main characters of this game are teenagers who decide to go to the mountains and spend the night away from the rest of the world. The protagonists hope that this way they will be able to deal with the trauma caused by the mysterious disappearance of their friend. Unfortunately, things quickly get out of control, as it turns out that they are not alone on Blackwood Mountain, and their stay in this place turns into a real struggle for survival.
How their fates will unfold, as well as who (or even if anyone) will manage to survive the night, depends on our actions and the choices we make.
At first glance Until Dawn does not differ from the original in terms of mechanics. The authors tried to introduce new features in the form of new camera angles which were not present in the original, as well as the possibility of watching the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
During the game, we alternately take on the roles of various characters. We participate in chilling events, as well as conduct conversations and make decisions that affect the further course of the story.
Due to the fact that even seemingly small choices can have significant consequences, it is recommended to make careful decisions. Otherwise, over time, we will have to say goodbye to some characters or even all the heroes. The title allows for the possibility that no one will survive the night.
Until Dawn runs on Unreal Engine 5. The authors not only refreshed the character models & locations and added new light sources, but also used a new, wider tonal palette of colors. In addition, new contextual animations appear in the game. The audio, including the soundtrack created by Mark Korven, has also been refreshed.

Game Ratings for Until Dawn Video Game.
PC Gamer: 75 / 100 by Alexander Chatziioannou
Technical issues and lack of a substantial upgrade aside, Until Dawn remains the perfect interactive horror movie.
Use a Potion: 8 / 10
Until Dawn is an impressive remake, and whilst there might be some questions concerning whether or not it was needed, there is no doubt that this is the scariest that the game has ever been. It looks better than ever and there are extended sequences that flesh out the storytelling, whilst the switch of camera perspectives helps the experience feel fresh for returning players. It is a little disappointing that it is limited to a 30fps frame rate and it might’ve been nice to see a few more extras to justify the price tag, but Until Dawn’s interactive horror escapade still manages to feel better than ever here.
CGMagazine: 6 / 10 by Justin Wood
Until Dawn Remake is a painful reminder that change isn’t always good. A poor totem system, bad performance and clunky controls really hold it back from joining other great remakes of late.
