It was supposed to be a routine flight. You were not terrified by anything, neither by bad weather nor by the vision of a journey over the boundless spaces of the Transylvanian Highlands, in the very centre of the Romanian state. Something went wrong, however. Maybe they were bats, or maybe something completely different. You lost control of the rudders and the last thing you remember was quilting at great speed towards the ground. The disaster could not have been avoided. You had to be lucky enough to get out of this crash. Or maybe you haven't had it at all,

Veil of Darkness is an adventure game with RPG elements, which takes you to a small village in the Carpathians. Your main task is to defeat the vampire Cairo, who has been terrorising the locals for years and doing what he wants with them. You can't escape, you can't hide. If you ever intend to leave this gloomy and cut off from any civilization place, you must stand up to fight. Whether you want it or not, you are the only hope of the locals. You have finally fallen down from heaven. Do you need other reasons to call you a "chosen one"?

Undoubtedly, the thing that attracts you the most to Veil of Darkness is a wonderful, overwhelming atmosphere. Subsequent elements of the gloomy plot are discovered one by one, as in any well-produced horror film. Initially, the villagers (with the exception of the family who rescued you from the plane) are distrustful and do not betray your real intentions. Only later, with the completion of subsequent tasks, their attitude changes and soon, willingly and unwillingly, you turn into the only right warrior, able to defeat once and for all the usurper. The scenario is, of course, terribly confusing and suddenly it may turn out that your greatest allies will betray you. This type of twists of action is also one of those elements that make the game so interesting with Veil of Darkness.

In the game, in addition to fulfilling adventure tasks, an equally important factor is the fight against monsters serving Cairo. If you don't like this kind of accents in adventure games, you can reduce the difficulty of the duels to a minimum, but that doesn't mean that they will disappear completely - they will simply be easier. The biggest problem with the fight is that the monsters are resistant to different types of weapons, so you will have to carry a lot of weapons, which of course is not that easy with a limited space in the backpack. The action of the game is presented in isometric projection, the whole game is supported by the mouse. The interface is a classic "point & click", i.e. the type of function changes depending on what we move the cursor over. The option of a conversation, during which the most important words are highlighted in red, was realized in a very interesting way. In the course of conversation we can take up new topics based on these words. There is also a possibility of typing your own words, but you have to make a lot of effort to get something specific out of them.

Audiovisual is at a very high level and favors a proper feeling for the specific atmosphere of the game. Without a doubt, Veil of Darkness is a product that a horror fan cannot pass by indifferently.
