Video Horror Society is a survival horror game designed to be played in asymmetrical multiplayer mode. The work of independent studio Hellbent Games pays homage to the cinematic horror films of the 1980s.
The plot of
Video Horror Society spreads before us a grim vision of the world. All sorts of monsters and villains, which so far could only be seen on TV screens, have managed to escape from the VCR tapes and are now spreading fear in reality. During the gameplay, we take on the role of teenagers forced to fight for survival.
Mechanics
In Video Horror Society, the gameplay differs, depending on who you play.
Taking control of one of the teenagers, we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP), and during the game our primary goal is to survive. To emerge unscathed from the oppression, we must, above all, make good use of the weapons we acquire. Although rifles, remote-controlled helicopter models and other weapons and gadgets can give us an advantage over the enemy, they should be used with caution, as they are kind of disposables. In addition, you need to work closely with other players.
If, on the other hand, you decide to stand on the other side of the barricade, you will enter the sk?ra of a werewolf, a puppet master and other terrors. Viewing events from a first-person perspective (FPP), we are primarily engaged in hunting down teenagers, trying to get them all.
The game takes place in a variety of locations inspired by movie settings - from a ruined hotel to secret research outposts. As you progress, you develop heroes and anti-heroes who learn new skills and improve the ones you already have. In addition, over time we gain access to a variety of cosmetic add-ons.
Game modes
Video Horror Society allows only multiplayer play.
Technical issues
The graphic design of the Video Horror Society game looks decent. The whole game is maintained in a colorful, "neon" style referring to the films of the 1980s.
