Compared to the previous part, player behaviour, artificial intelligence, and new tactical development possibilities have been added. In addition, multiplayer mode has been improved and enriched with additional protection in online gameplay.

The story is set in an original universe built from the bodies of two gods that once fought and eventually killed each other. While one of those bodies is inhabited by humans, the other one is populated by mechanical being preparing to launch an attack on the other party.

Players direct the actions of their favourite characters - Shrek, Fiona, Cat in Shoes and Donkey, who try to restore the old order in the fairy-tale land, changed by the mysterious Rumpelstiltskin. The game contains many arcade elements and simple puzzles that require the use of special abilities of individual characters.
