Episode Zero is the first expansion to Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus – another installment in the best-selling WWII-themed FPS series developed by Machine Games. Similarly to the base game, Episode Zero, among other platforms, is available on PC, PS4 and XONE.
Episode Zero is a kind of prolog to the three following expansions allowing a player to familiarize himself with the three new protagonists. During the game, one assumes the roles of Joseph Stallion, Jessica Valiant, and Gerald Wilkins – all three fight for the resistance with the Nazis occupying America.
The gameplay mechanics in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus – Episode Zero do not differ much from what players might remember from the base game. The new campaign has been divided into consecutive missions, during which one can explore various locations and eliminate numerous opponents (including both humans and battle machines) with a wide variety of available weapons. Interestingly enough, all three protagonists are diversified in terms of their abilities and preferred weaponry – for example, Stallion throws himself at the enemies armed with two machine pistols, while Jessica prefers a stealth approach and eliminates the opponents from a safe distance.
The PC, PS4 and XONE release of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus – Episode Zero is not a standalone expansion, as it requires a base game in order to work. It can be purchased as a part of the season pass, which includes also the three remaining add-ons. Nonetheless, those who pre-ordered Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus have acquired the Episode Zero DLC for free.
