Another wrestling simulation. We play in one of several dozen available players or create our own character from scratch. You can choose from many types of duels, such as triple threat or hell in the cell.
WWE Wrestlemania X8 is another representative of a very popular series of several dozen products. This is also the first game signed with the WWE logo, which was decided to be released on the Gamecube console. Previous titles from this series were released on both generations of PlayStation or the less popular Dreamcaster. Once again we are dealing with a product dealing with the subject of very popular in the United States "combat sports", more professionally called wrestling. In fact, these are, of course, directed performances with the participation of well-trained players. The described game directly refers to the title sports event, which is one of the most recognizable TV show. This does not mean, of course, that we are only limited to attending these professions. The game offers many other attractions. Its production is the responsibility of Yuke's company, which in addition to sports games has also developed such products as The Dog: Happy Life, or D1 Grand Prix.
During the game we can play as one of several dozen wrestlers employed by the WWE organization. These are personalities appearing on the three main TV programmes - RAW, ECW and Smackdown. The list of players includes such characters as Undertaker, The Rock, Matt Hardy, Hulk Hogan, Booker T, Chris Benoit, Rob Van Dam, or Diamond Dallas Page. It is worth mentioning here that some players have yet to be unlocked. Nothing stands in the way of creating your own player and leading him through the career ladder, winning at the very end the coveted belt of the world champion.
The matches are played in six different arenas. It is also worth mentioning that we can take part in many different types of clashes. Apart from classic duels, one in one has been prepared, among others, team competitions (2 vs. 2), duels played inside a metal frame, or clashes from the handicap group, in which a single competitor has to defeat a larger group of opponents. Visually, the game looks quite good. The best performance was, of course, the players' characters. The environment was much worse, but similar simplifications can also be seen in other games in this series. The sound layer consists of both shouts coming from the audience, as well as characteristic music pieces, accompanying the entry of individual competitors to the ring.
