Xanadu Next is a jRPG by Nihon Falcom studio. The game was released only in Japan in 2005. The English version was released a decade later by XSEED.

Plot

The action of Xanadu Next takes place in typical magical fantasy land, culturally and technologically modeled on the European Middle Ages. We play as a dishonored knight hired by a scientist named Charlotte to explore the ruins located on Harlech Island.

Unfortunately, the knight is attacked by a mysterious warrior and gravely injured. The knight is saved from death by an ancient ritual - it connected his soul with the island. Unfortunately, this means that he will die after leaving it. The only way to avoid this fate is to find the legendary magical sword known as the Dragon Slayer.
