Hunting is carried out in many different corners of the globe. These include extensive mountainous areas and dense forests. Great emphasis was placed on the detailed mapping of individual ecosystems.

The title concentrates on multiplayer and it is an introduction to the next full-fledged installment of the series, Red Faction: Armageddon. In the game the player takes control of special, customized vehicles which complete with each other on the arenas of Mars in several gameplay modes such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and King of the Hill.

Players direct the actions of characters from the Toy Story film series, including Buzz and Lean, who have to deal with 30 challenges straight from Disney's parks. The game uses 3D image technology, which requires the appropriate glasses.
