A coop-focused first-person action game, set in a convention of humorous horror. In YAPYAP, we play as wizards performing acts of vandalism (primarily magical) when visiting an archmage's tower, and we can activate spells by speaking into the microphone. We also have to avoid monsters guarding the tower.
Fantasy and horror rarely go hand in hand. The game YAPYAP aims to fill this niche. This cooperative action title from Maison Bap studio is set in a humorous tone, allowing us to play as mischievous wizards whose antics attract the attention of magical creatures posing a deadly threat to them.
In YAPYAP the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP).
The main characters of the game are not very talented wizards who, on the orders of an archmage, break into the tower of his rival to commit various acts of vandalism. Our protagonists create chaos around them, using found wands and artifacts, as well as their own magical abilities.
We cast spells by speaking them into a microphone. This way, we can move objects, throw and destroy them, as well as use teleportation and cloning abilities. The game allows us to merge spells with those of other participants, creating unique combinations.
How well we fulfill our assigned task is indicated by the number of vandalism points we accumulate. It is worth remembering that sometimes, to achieve the desired goal, we do not need to resort to magic. It is enough to hide an important key or take care of a physiological need on the carpet.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the owner of the building has prepared for our visit, which means that various monsters are roaming the rooms and corridors of the tower. Besides them, we may also encounter creatures whose existence is unknown even to the archmage himself.
Since the protagonists are far from being battle wizards, they must hide from enemies and distract them, and when all else fails, they have no choice but to flee. Although they can try to use spells against their foes, the necessity of maintaining a calm tone of voice even in "heated" situations can significantly hinder or even prevent this option.
YAPYAP is designed for online multiplayer for up to 6 people.
The graphics in YAPYAP are kept in a caricatured, pixelated retro style.
