The Lightreaper is a story-important main boss that appears on several occasions during your adventures and each time wants to fight the hero. You'll encounter him for the first time during the tutorial. The battle against The Lightreaper later in the game encompass 3 phases. The Lightreaper in a nutshell

1. During the battle, The Lightreaper will sometimes mount his dragon and fight on its back. To avoid damage during this stage of the battle, keep close to the buildings on the left.
2. While the boss is mounted, he cannot be damaged. During these sequences of the battle, focus on avoiding his attacks and go on the offensive only when he dismounts.
3. The two initial phases of the battle begin with him on the dragon, while in the third one, the boss receives new, fire-based, attacks.
4. To protect from these attacks, consider equipping armor that protects from this element and this is a good choice when preparing for the battle.

How to eliminate The Lightreaper's passive?

After the battle against The Lightreaper is initiated, you can see that on his health bar visible on the left, there is a blue dot, which means that he has a passive in place. It reinforces his health regeneration abilities heavily. Without removing this advantage, the fight with him will be made much harder.

Before you enter the arena, you need to switch to Umbral, use the revealed ladder (screenshot) and jump on the platform in front of you.

You will find yourself on a balcony. On the left you can see a body that you need to rip out with Soulflay. This will remove The Lightreaper's passive advantage.

How to fight The Lightreaper in phase 1?

After entering the arena, start by getting close to the buildings on the left. This will make the dragon's attacks miss you, making this part of the battle much easier. He usually starts with a fire-based attack (breathing fire), then the dragon attempts to land on your hero.

When The Lightreaper dismounts the dragon, prepare to avoid a horizontal fiery swing that will fly your way. You can do a front dodge to avoid taking damage.

In the initial phases, after the dragon sequence, the battle is taken to melee range. Most of the boss attacks involve fast swings that have to be dodged or parried. Go on offensive only when his combinations are concluded.

Another attack in his moveset is a sword thrust. If this attack lands, a grab animation will be initiated during which the boss will impale you on his sword, cut through you two times, and then conclude with a kick. You cannot do anything to interrupt this grab, so if you see him preparing for this move (the thrust) make a dodge to a side.

How to fight The Lightreaper in phase 2?

The beginning of the second phase plays out similarly to the first one. The Lightreaper will mount his dragon and you will have to avoid its attacks again. Again, stick close to the buildings on the left so the dragon's attacks miss you.

In the second phase, the boss can attack with his fiery swing two times in a row, so be ready for such a situation. The Lightreaper will also become more aggressive.

He will jump more often, closing the distance between you. Therefore, if you see that the enemy is in the air, it is better to not use healing spells or items at that moment, as he will land on you in a short moment.

Apart from these two new moves, the fight proceeds similarly to the first phase. Try to attack him once he stops attacks of his own. If you deprive him of 50% of his health points, the third phase will begin.

How to fight the Lightreaper in phase 3?

Phase 3 is the most demanding, as the boss receives access to new moves, and deals heavy fire damage with his attacks. Try to stay away from fire, as you'll receive a lot of damage very quickly if in its range. If you get touched by flames, perform dodges to douse them.

When you see that the boss is standing idle and is burning red-hot, get ready to dodge, as after a moment, a powerful explosion will ensue.

If a red beam directed upwards begins to emit from his body, after a short moment, the boss will create a portal and summon his dragon. He won't mount it, which means two enemies to fight. You will need to avoid both The Lightreaper and the dragon attacks for a while.

When the boss starts spinning and jumps into the air, he will summon fire swords in a moment. This is a powerful attack, but if you dodge it at the right moment, you'll have a lot of time to attack The Lightreaper without punishment.

When the boss dies, the dragon mount will be summoned for the final time. The dragon will crash with the surface. This will result in a powerful explosion, so be ready to mitigate it. If you don't do this, you may die even if the battle is seemingly over.

Rewards

For defeating The Lightreaper, you will receive the following rewards:

1. Umbral Scouring x25,
2. Lightreaper Flesh,
3. The Lightreaper's Umbral Parasite,
4. Vestige seed.

Moreover, by going to Umbral, you'll see a Stigma on the arena grounds. By interacting with it with Soulflay, you'll receive:

1. Remembrance of the Lightreaper,
2. Umbral Scouring x2.
