Manor Lords: What are unit statistics and effectiveness? Manor Lords Guide

The strength and combat potential of units in Manor Lords depends on many factors. On this page we will introduce you to the most important of them.

Last update: 19 April 2024

Troops enlisted for military service in Manor Lords are described by a number of statistics and properties that determine their combat potential. On this page of our guide, we explain individual statistics, what they affect, and outline how they correspond with other mechanics governing combat.

Manor Lords still haven't left Early Access. This means that many of the mechanics and features implemented in the game are not yet functional, balanced, or are currently placeholders. With subsequent updates, we can expect more of the features to work and gradual introductions of new ones.

How to check unit statistics?

After hovering the cursor over a unit or clicking on it in the "Army" tab at the bottom of the screen, a contextual menu will be displayed, from which you can learn the current Morale, Fatigue, and Effectiveness of your troops - Manor Lords: What are unit statistics and effectiveness? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

After hovering the cursor over a unit or clicking on it in the "Army" tab at the bottom of the screen, a contextual menu will be displayed, from which you can learn the current Morale, Fatigue, and Effectiveness of your troops. Holding the Tab button will also show a table with basic statistics describing the unit.

Attack

A basic stat describing the power of melee attacks. Its final value in combat is affected by additional factors such as the Effectiveness of a unit, whether Backstabbing applies, and the enemy's defense statistics.

Ranged attack

A similar feature describing ranged attack power. Its end value is also determined by the same modifiers as Attack, and additionally increases and decreases based on the distance to the target.

When shooting from the maximum range, the chances of missing are high but increase as you get closer to the target - Manor Lords: What are unit statistics and effectiveness? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

When shooting from the maximum range, the chances of missing are high but increase as you get closer to the target. The highest hit chance is at 25% of the maximum range. For example, a typical Archer Militia unit has a maximum attack range of 60 meters.

Armor

A basic trait that describes a unit's durability and with higher values, reduces the damage received by troops - Manor Lords: What are unit statistics and effectiveness? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

A basic trait that describes a unit's durability and with higher values, reduces the damage received by troops. Heavier armor that you can equip for your forces improves this statistic, but in return, Fatigue accrues much faster. You can unlock the ability to craft better Armor by activating it on the specialization wheel and choosing Armormaking branch. More on the specialization wheel and upgrading the village's level can be found on How to level up your village? page of our guide.

Armor penetration

This attribute determines how much of the enemy armor is ignored when attacking.

Shield

Reduces damage from attacks, but only works when the unit's shields are turned towards the attacker - Manor Lords: What are unit statistics and effectiveness? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

Reduces damage from attacks, but only works when the unit's shields are turned towards the attacker. Similarly to Armor, wielding shields tires out the unit. You can craft shields for militia units in the Joiner's Workshop, which is an Extension that can be built at any level 2 Burgage Plot. More information about upgrading buildings can be found on the How to upgrade buildings page of our guide.

Fatigue

Represented by a yellow bar next to the lightning bolt icon in the unit contextual menu - Manor Lords: What are unit statistics and effectiveness? - FAQ - Manor Lords Guide

Represented by a yellow bar next to the lightning bolt icon in the unit contextual menu. Fatigue accumulates during combat and when units move at faster speeds. When the stamina bar is at low levels, the unit becomes fatigued - it cannot move fast, and its effectiveness in combat is lowered.

Morale

Represented by a white bar next to the flag symbol in the unit's contextual menu. It symbolizes the will of your soldiers to fight. When this value drops low enough, the unit won't be able to assume certain battle formations, and in extreme cases, soldiers may even flee the battlefield. The morale of the troops is influenced by factors such as weather conditions (getting wet due to rain), whether the unit fights in its home area, and whether previous battles were won or lost.

Charge

This statistics describes the bonus to damage inflicted when the unit charges.

Impaling

A statistic that determines the unit's resistance to charges. A unit standing its ground when faced towards the charging enemy, absorbs its charge, providing bonuses to attack for the defending unit.

Backstabbing

Attacking an enemy that has his back turned towards you deals double the damage and ignores Armor. Backstabbing can be performed both in melee and ranged combat.

Effectiveness

A general attribute determining the current effectiveness and combat capabilities of the unit. This value is an end result of the unit's offensive and defensive properties. Effectiveness may be additionally influenced by elements such as:

  1. Fatigue;
  2. Formation;
  3. Being surrounded;
  4. Weather (e.g. getting wet during rain);
  5. Terrain elevation (an attack carried out uphill will be less effective).
