Premiere of Baldur's Gate 3 is just around the corner, which is why ESRB (whose job it is to study content and set age rating for video games) has rated Larian Studios' latest work.

  1. According to the ESRB the upcoming RPG is suitable only for adults (in this case, that means for players over 17 years old).

This should not be particularly surprising, given that in the game we may witness the already famous romance with a druid turning into a bear and ubiquitous nudity. Nevertheless, these are most likely the least controversial content that the developers "smuggled" into their game.

  1. From the information found on ESRB's website, we learn that Baldur's Gate 3 will also include interactive torture scenes.
  2. This means that the players will be able to decide (via dialogue options) what kind of torture to subject their victim to in order to extract relevant information.
  3. The palette of options for inflicting pain will be really wide. For example, we will be able to order the victim to have a hot poker sticked in the thigh, a spear in the groin or toenails removed.
  4. Those with weak nerves need not fear, however, as most of these activities will take place off-screen. What will come to us will be mainly the moans of the tortured prisoner.

However, as the saying goes, what comes late... Baldur's Gate 3 will test our stomachs on other occasions.

  1. The game is expected to feature fragment depicting, among other things, "an eviscerated woman with her entrails exposed" or "a brain extracted from the skull."

Considering the above scenes, excerpts showing nudity, intimate body parts and sexual ecounters (the latter will be shown on screen only up to a certain point, further activities will already move out of frame) seem to be just an innocent addition.

Baldur's Gate 3 will debut on August 3 on PC and September 6 on PlayStation 5..
