SCS Software has announced that update 1.49 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now available for testing as part of open beta. One of the highlights of the trials is the return of the Moon to the game, which has undergone a minor "facelift."

In addition to the Earth's natural satellite, the update beautified skyboxes in general, which now use High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology.. Thanks to this, weather phenomena are supposed to look better and more realistic. In addition, the developers boast that celestial bodies in the sky from now on will gently flicker.

ETS2Version 1.49 is, however, much more changes than visual improvements.

  • A community-coveted feature that allows for the purchase of used trucks has been added to the test version. Budget-friendly vehicles, however, have a certain mileage and component wear, which affects their "star" rating.
  • In connection with the possibility of buying second-hand vehicles The damage and repair system has been expanded and improved. It includes, among other things, three types of defects: damage, wear and tear of parts and permanent destruction.
  • New key setting options have been introduced, so that from now on, you can use a combination of buttons to trigger an action, such as assigning the Shift+L shortcut to turn on the lights. Importantly, also controller users will benefit from this feature.

To join the beta, you must find ETS2 in your Steam Library, then right-click on the title and open the Properties panel. Finally, under the Beta tab, select the "1.49" option. Sometimes a restart of the platform is required to validate the test version.

The open beta of update 1.49 has also made its way to American Truck Simulator. The test version of the patch for ATS, in addition to the changes mentioned above, was also enriched with the area of the reconstructed PACCAR technical center, located in Washington, DC.

Unfortunately, for now we do not know when the full version of the discussed patch will hit SCS Software's games.
