How Old is Wanderer in Genshin Impact
Wanderer, one of the oldest known characters in Genshin Impact, is deeply connected to the lore of the game. But how old is he actually?
Wanderer is an iconic character among the Genshin Impact fanbase, and not without reason. He has a deep connection to the story of Inazuma and the plot of the Sumeru Archon Quest, and has a lot of lore associated with him. Because of that, Wanderer is one of the few characters in the game with a roughly defined age.
How Old is Wanderer in Genshin Impact
Although we know the general timeline for Wanderer’s birth – or rather, his creation, the exact year is not known.
According to the Archon Quest, Chapter II, Act III - Omnipresence Over Mortals, Part 9: Wishes, Ei, took over as the Electro Archon after the death of her sister, Makoto, during the Cataclysm 500 years ago. Afterwards, Ei began experimenting with constructing puppets in her own likeness. The aim of Ei’s research was to create a vessel for the Gnosis, which is the source of an Archon’s power. However, her first creation, a male puppet, was judged by Ei to be too weak for the role and abandoned in the Shakkei Pavilon. This is who’d eventually become the Wanderer we know.
In the Archon Quest Act, Interlude Chapter, Act III: Inversion of Genesis, it is revealed that Ei’s puppet awoke around 400 years from the current time. The puppet, given the name Kabukimono by the people of Tatarasuna, takes part in the events surrounding the Furnace. These happenings are touched upon in various pieces of Inazuma lore, including the descriptions Husk of Opulent Dreams set.
Around 100 years from the start of the Genshin Impact plot, the puppet is active under the self-assumed name of Kunikuzushi, pulling the strings in Inazuma. Later, he becomes known as one of the Fatui Harbringers, Scaramouche.
It is only after the tumultuous events of the Sumeru Archon quest, during the Interlude Chapter, Act III: Inversion of Genesis that the character formerly known as Scaramouche takes on the identity of Wanderer. This complicated timeline makes the question of his age somewhat difficult.
According to the game’s lore, the body of Wanderer might be nearly 500 years old. However, as it seems he did not awaken for some time, his consciousness is likely closer to around 400 years old. Thus, the general estimate of Wanderer’s age would be between 400-500.
