Helldivers 2 enjoys incredible popularity among players, which would probably be even greater if the game's developer, Arrowhead Game Studios, listened to their requests and introduced a character appearance customization option.

While this idea seems quite reasonable - after all, we have plenty of games in which customizing the appearance is one of the key options - the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios, Johan Pilestedt, has a slightly different opinion on this matter.

The developer responded to posts published on X, in which players asked him to add an extensive personalization system to Helldivers 2. However, Pilestedt made it clear that it would be illogical. The dev explained that the equipment looks different in order to distinguish it based on its function, and giving freedom in customizing it would make no sense.

We are not doing transmog [the ability to change the appearance of clothing and equipment items while maintaining their statistics]. It doesn't make sense - equipment looks different because it has different effects. Swapping one for the other is like having an apple that tastes like bacon or the other way around -- wrote Pilestedt on X.

The developer's post didn't resonate with internet users, who suggested at least considering adding a feature to change the color scheme of Helldivers' armor and weapons. At the moment, it is still uncertain whether the developers will consider this idea.
