Big Lebowski is one of the most iconic American comedies.

Next weekend, football fans will be caught up in sports madness, bacause Sunday, February 3, is the day of Super Bowl, the great final of the play-off phase of the NFL, this year New England Patriots will face off agains Los Angeles Rams. However, the competition on the field will not be the only thing, igniting the emotions of people around the world. Traditionally, during the half-time, there will be commercials and movie trailers prepared exclusively for this purpose. The atmosphere of waiting for these advertisings was warmed up even further by Jeff Bridges, who published a short teaser on his Twitter account. In the teaser he plays Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski from the iconic comedy. The teaser is summed up by a single sentece:

Can’t be living in the past, man. Stay tuned.

Whatever he’s advertising, it will be shown during the upcoming Super Bowl.

As you might expect, Bridges' tweet has triggered a lot of speculation. Many people have automatically assumed that what will be shown during the Super Bowl half-time will be a teaser for the sequal of the Coen brothers' movie. It is worth noting that such a movie is indeed being created, at least in theory, although in this case the word "spin-off" would be more appropriate. We are talking about John Turturro's Going Places, which will tell the story of Jesus Quintana. Will we see the teaser of this movie at the end of next week? While it is possible, what speaks against it is the fact that Jeff Bridges is nowhere to be found in the cast of the movie. It may, of course, be a completely different production, but so far we haven't heard any rumors about it.

There is a lot of unknowns in the aforementioned theory. But if it’s not a feature film, then what? There are many indications that what we are going to see during the Super Bowl will simply be an ad of an unspecified thing with Lebowski in the main role. A similar trick was used in previous years, among others, by PR specialist at Honda, when using Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller from the well-known comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off in 2012 and the Australians, who prepared a spot promoting tourism in Australia, stylized on a reboot of Crocodile Dundee with Danny McBride and Chris Hemsworthe in the main roles, for the previous edition of the Super Bowl.

Big Lebowski’s spin-off will focus on the character of Jesus Quintan.

Which group is right? Will the adored character return to cinema screens? Or will he get only a short appearance in an ad? We will know the answers to these questions in a little over a week's time.
