Studio Asobo has released a new video in which the developers revealed changes that will soon be made to Microsoft Flight Simulator.

  1. Later this month, the fourteenth World Update will debut. This means that some regions of the virtual world will become more detailed, gaining, for example, hand-modeled familiar buildings.
  2. World Update XIV is expected to cover Central and Eastern Europe.
  3. The video mentions the following countries as part of Central and Eastern Europe: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Croatia.
  4. World Update XIV will offer a completely new terrain model for these countries. We will also get ten finely mapped cities and six airports.
  5. Along with World Update XIV Microsoft Flight Simulator is also to receive two new aircraft from the line of so-called "local legends" in the form of the Czechoslovakian Aero Ae-145 and the Aero Ae-45 prototype.

World Update updates are needed as the game recreates the entire Earth. The developers, of course, could not do it manually, so many terrains were generated by algorithms, based on satellite maps and topographic data. Since its release, the developers have regularly improved more regions, adding more details and removing imperfections.

Recall that Microsoft Flight Simulator debuted in August 2020 on PC, and in July of the following year got versions for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles. The game is also available as part of Game Pass, on both PCs and consoles. In addition, its full-fledged sequel is coming - called Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
