Sony and Nvidia Will Not Show up on MWC 2020 Because of Coronavirus

Nvidia and Sony have confirmed that they will not appear on Mobile World Congress 2020 in Barcelona due to the coronavirus threat. Thus, the companies joined LG, Ericsson, and many other exhibitors, who gave up their participation in the Spanish fair.

Sony is another company that we will not see on the Barcelona fair.

We've been hearing a lot about the 2019-nCoV coronavirus epidemic recently. However, what for some is only a very distant threat or just a curiosity, for others is a serious problem. Quite a few recent reports on the closure of electronic equipment factories in China and possible complications for corporations have appered recently. The organizers of Mobile World Congress 2020 Barcelona, the GSMA, are also not happy. Nvidia and Sony informed that they will not appear on this year's edition of the big telecommunication fair. The reason is, of course, the coronavirus threat following the recent declaration of a global emergency by the International Health Organisation.

It must be admitted that Nvidia's absence could have been ignored, because the company wasn't one of the main exhibitors at MWC (although it must be noted that it was one of the main sponsors of the event). But the same cannot be said of Sony. Worse still, the company is not the first major company to give up its participation. A little earlier Amazon, Ericsson and LG informed about their absence, thus significantly impoverishing the fair.

The list of the great absentees at MCW 2020 Barcelona is still growing.

The organizers of the fair also spoke on the matter. GSMA assured that this year's edition of Mobile World Congress will take place as planned and we will see more than 2.8 thousand exhibitors (including Huawei and ZTE) in Barcelona. At the same time, the organization reported that it had taken appropriate precautions, in accordance with the recommendations of the International Health Organisation and the Chinese government, as well as the indications of the Spanish health service, police, etc. Let's hope it's enough for the next exhibitors not to give up their participation. The MWC 2020 Barcelona trade fair will start on February 24 and will last three days.
