The popularity of the Fallout TV series has caused a real renaissance of games from this brand. This led to impressive results in series activity on Steam and a crazy increase in sales in Europe, among other places, helped by attractive discounts. Many players returning to or discovering this series for the first time have chosen to do so with mods, which led to a significant problem.

  1. Players rushed to download mods from NexusMods, especially for Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas. The spike in interest was so great that both games became record-breakingly popular on this website.
  2. However, this turned out to be a significant problem, because the administrators of NexusMods clearly didn't anticipate such a large increase in the number of downloaded files. As a result, the service began to crash. The site is clearly running slower, and the mods' pages may not load the first time. Files also clearly take longer to download, even for people who pay for a premium subscription.

NexusMods administrators said on Discord that they have allocated extra resources to address these issues.

These problems should be resolved quickly because most players only download the essential modifications and then don't revisit NexusMods. Nevertheless, this shows the significant influence the TV series had on the brand's popularity and, most importantly, how essential mods are for its presence on PC now.

Fallout 4 Next-Gen and the huge popularity of the series on Steam

Of course, mods aren't the only way to improve Fallout 4. Bethesda is developing an update to enhance the game's technical aspects across all platforms. On PS5 and Xbox X/S, it will introduce features such as higher resolution and the option to play at 60 frames per second. Meanwhile, the PC version will finally receive support for ultrawide monitors.

It's worth noting that this weekend saw another significant rise in activity on Steam for the entire series. The record for Fallout 4 yesterday reached 164,000 players simultaneously, enabling the game to enter the top ten most popular titles on Valve's platform. Fallout 76 reached a new peak with 73,368 players simultaneously playing yesterday. Meanwhile, in Fallout: New Vegas, the top score on Sunday was 43,632 players playing at the same time, which is nearly 8,000 less than the overall record (51,000) set 14 years ago.
