17 Years of Playing WoW and 40,000 Hours on the Clock, All Without a Mouse

World of Warcraft may appear to be a title that requires a lot of speed and precision, especially with more difficult locations and activities. However, one streamer proves that you don't even need a computer mouse to move smoothly through Azeroth.

High-level World of Warcraft is an experience that requires a great deal of knowledge of the game's mechanics, reflexes and efficient motor coordination from the player. However, among the community of Blizzard's MMO there are daredevils for whom this is not enough and who are ready to crank up the degree of challenge by imposing specific limitations on themselves.

Interesting in this context is the figure of a streamer using a telling nickname Touchpadwarrior. This player has been proving for almost 17 years that he doesn't even need a mouse to play the popular MMORPG.

Touchpad Warrior

Sympathetic WOW player uses an unusual keyboard equipped with a special touch-sensitive trackpad resembling a solution known from laptops. In a tiktok discussing this unorthodox control layout, the streamer mentions that he has more than 40 thousand hours of playing on the touchpad on record, which enabled him to develop an optimal control model for himself.

Touchpadwarrior uses the touchpad with his left hand (despite the fact that he admits being right-handed). In this arrangement, he uses his thumb to operate the buttons responsible for cursor clicks. The index finger can therefore rest on the touchpad at all times, enabling the user to react quickly to events on the screen. As the subject himself states, the high sensitivity setting of the trackpad also proves helpful in gaming.

The player's other hand rests on the right side of the unusual keyboard. To allow yourself convenient access to all the necessary functions, Touchpadwarrior uses as many as 38 keyboard shortcuts. Many of them are activated by the appropriate combination of buttons and SHIFT, CTRL and ALT keys.

Touchpadwarrior regularly streams his World of Warcraft sessions on Twitch.

The example of the streamer and his unusual control model may appear as proof that with enough determination and commitment the equipment we use is irrelevant.
