The effect of health regeneration

In Starbound there are two types of effects: positive and negative. You can acquire them by coming into contact with a specific type of blocks, attacks of some of the monsters, eating an appropriate item, etc.

Below, you can find a list of the main types of effects that you can experience in the game. The red color corresponds to negative, and green to the positive effects.

Burning

Deals damage from fire, per second, for the duration of 5 seconds. A character with this effect glows in dark and moves a bit faster.

Freezing - Effects - The guide of the Novice - Starbound - Beta - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Freezing

Appears when the level of the character's temperature drops to zero. The screen becomes white and the player receives damage for the whole time. You can remove this effect by warming the character, e.g. at the Campfire.

Glowing

The player's character emits an intensive glow around itself. Especially useful underground. This effect can be acquired after you use the Yellow Stim Pack.

Health Regeneration

Regenerates your character's health bar. The speed of the regeneration depends on the effect's source. The example items that provide this effect are Bandage and Red Stim Pack.

Jump Boost

The effect that increases the height of the character's jump. Very useful while travelling across the planet's surface. You receive it after you use the Blue Stim Pack.

Melting

A negative effect that you receive after you come into contact with lava. Deals 100 damage per second.

Poisoned

The character is poisoned and slowly loses his health. This effect disappears after several seconds. The best idea is to use Bandage or Red Stim Pack, to alleviate the effects of poisoning.

Speed Boost

This effect allows you to run faster and jump higher. It can be achieved by consuming the Grim Stim Pack.

Sugar Rush - Effects - The guide of the Novice - Starbound - Beta - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Sugar Rush

A positive effect that you can acquire after you consume the appropriate kind of food, like e.g. Banana Bread or Lollypop. It increases the speed of your character, while running, and allows you to jump 25% higher. It lasts for 15 seconds.
