Around the World in 80 Minutes – Iconic Cities and Landmarks in Flight Simulator 2020

A trip around the world without a mask? In Flight Simulator 2020, it's not a problem. Here's how the famous and locations look like in the new Microsoft game, and how they compare with other video games.

Table of Contents

Pripyat. Chernobyl power station

We're moving east. "50,000 people used to live here. Now it's a ghost town.” The famous quote from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare particularly fits Flight Simulator 2020 – the artificial intelligence has aptly filled the area between the abandoned blocks of Pripyat with lush vegetation. A real ghost town. In front of the town, you can see the sites where there was used to be a graveyard of abandoned vehicles used in the power station, and they could use dedicated objects.

Pyongyang – North Korea

The satellite pictures used by Bing also captured some areas of North Korea, though of course not as extensively as other countries. We have brutalist blocks of flats. There also is one building crated by hand – the Rungrado May Day Stadium that looks a like a donut.

Mount Fuji – Japan

Flying over the endless districts of Tokyo, you can always see the dominant shape of Mount Fuji on the horizon. The place is considered sacred in Japan and is among the country's most recognizable landscapes. In FS2020, it's not a specially designed model or POI, but the makers seem to have put a little effort into making the top stand out from other mountains.
