Quake Unofficial Remastered is a mod for Quake, created by GamesRevival.

Description:

This guide presents a fully ready-to-play game version wherein the engine limits are removed, the proper support for widescreen resolutions is added and the animations are made smooth. Also included are all audio tracks in original quality from official CDs to play music in the game without discs.

Installation

Install the game

Download archive

Unpack the downloaded archive with file replacement to directory:

Disk:\Steam directory\steamapps\common\Quake (or to another directory where the game is located)

Game Launch

To merge the port with Steam you need to rename the file "quakespasm.exe" to "glquake.exe" or "Winquake.exe" as necessary, replacing the original file. To launch games through Steam in the most classic version, you need to: select the original game or mission packs in the Steam Library › right-click › select "Properties" › in the appeared window type the launch option: -fitz

Multiplayer

To play on the Internet you need to go to a special website[www.quakeservers.net] with a server list, copy the server address, and then type in the command line: connect address

To simplify the netplay, you can download a special port version called Quakespasm-Spiked[triptohell.info] and unpack it to the directory specified in the "Installation" section. In order not to configure Quakespasm-Spiked yourself, you need to replace the file "Quake\Id1\config.cfg" with the same file from the downloaded archive "Quake.zip". To open the server list you need to go to: Multiplayer › Join a Game › TCP/IP › Search for public games...

Custom Content

Installation process

Move the folder with user content to directory:

Disk:\Steam directory\steamapps\common\Quake (or to another directory where the game is located)

If you install a map that contains only .bsp file(s), you can move it to a subdirectory: id1\maps

Select a game in the Steam Library › right-click › select "Properties" › in the appeared window type the needed launch option from the list below:

-game mod_folder_name to run modifications

+map name +skill 0-3 (easy-nightmare) to launch maps from the "maps" folder

-game map(s)_folder_name +map name +skill 0-3 (easy-nightmare) to launch maps from a separate folder

If the game is not merged with Steam, then the launch parameter must be type in the .bat file using a text editor: quakespasm.exe -fitz desired_launch_option
