DxWrapper is an open-source tool by Elisha Cloud. It fixes compatibility issues with older games running on Windows 10 by wrapping DirectX dlls. Also allows loading custom libraries with the file extension .asi into game processes.
For GTA 4 it can reduce stuttering that happens often even on strong PCs.
Instructuctions for GTA 4:
Install Ultimate ASI Loader. You must download 32-bit version Ultimate-ASI-Loader.zip, it contains dinput8.dll, unpack it to GTA IV folder and rename it as dsound.dll
Download DxWrapper and extract into “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV”
Open dxwrapper.ini and change DrawCompat in „ [Compatibility]” section to:
DDrawCompat = 1
And change DDrawCompatNoProcAffinity in [DDrawCompat] section to:
DDrawCompatNoProcAffinity = 1
