Dark Souls III - Game Mod - Cinders v.2.15 - Download

Cinders is a mod for Dark Souls III, created by Xylozi.

Description (in author’s own words):

A gameplay mod for Dark Souls 3. Aims to re-balance the game to allow the player more choice in how they play. This is done with changes to weapons, spells, loot, enemies, etc.

The mod aims to equalize the viability of gameplay styles whilst also increasing the base difficulty of Dark Souls 3.

WARNING!!!

Only use this mod whilst offline. Editing the Data0.bdt will flag your save data as invalid, leading to a soft ban.

Instructions

For Steam users, I recommend using the Mod Engine method to install the mod. For those with other versions, you'll need to use the UXM method to install the mod.

Mod Engine Method

1. Download Mod Engine?.

2. Copy dinput8.dll and modengine.ini to your \DARK SOULS III\Game\ directory.

2. Open the Cinders zip file and extract the Cinders folder from the zip file into your Dark Souls III installation directory (i.e. E:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\DARK SOULS III\Game).

4. Copy the modengine.ini in the Cinders folder and replace the modengine.ini in the installation directory.

5. You can now launch the game and Cinders will be enabled.

UXM Method

1. Download UXM.

2. Unpack your Dark Souls III installation with UXM.

3. Patch your Dark Souls III executable with UXM.

4. Open the Cinders zip file and extract the folders and the Data0.bdt directly into \DARK SOULS III\Game\.

Updating

Mod Engine Method

1. Open the Cinders ZIP file you downloaded.

2. Extract the Cinders folder from the zip file into your Dark Souls III installation directory (i.e. E:\Program Files

(x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\DARK SOULS III\Game).

3. Accept any prompts that warn you that files are being replaced.

UXM Method

1. Open the Cinders ZIP file you downloaded.

2. Extract the folders and Data0.bdt from the UXM folder in the zip file into your Dark

Souls III installation directory (i.e. E:\Program Files

(x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\DARK SOULS III\Game).

3. Accept any prompts that warn you that files are being replaced.

Note that changes between versions may cause issues, i.e. items not being present, items become invalid, etc, so I recommend only updating between playthroughs.

Uninstallation

Mod Engine Method

1. Delete the Cinders folder in your \DARK SOULS III\Game\ directory.

2. Open the modengine.ini and change modOverrideDirectory="\Cinders" to modOverrideDirectory="".

UXM Method

1. Open UXM and click the Restore button to revert the unpacking process.

2. Verify files through Steam to restore the vanilla Data0.bdt.
