RenderExtended is a mod for Deus Ex, created by LoadLineCalibration.

Description:

RenderExtended is a mod that upgrades the game’s renderer. It fixes disappearing models, raises several old engine limits, and adds a number of new features, mostly useful for mods and debugging.

What this mod does:

1. Fixes disappearing meshes using a hybrid Hybrid Z / bounds-near approach.
2. Fixes texture flag pollution issues where the same texture used with different PolyFlags could corrupt rendering on other surfaces.
3. Fixes PF_Unlit geometry so unlit surfaces no longer keep unwanted LightMap data.
4. Animated and procedural textures should now always update correctly instead of freezing.
5. Fixes the classic 7 out of 8 AABB points bug in BoundVisible() by testing all bounding box corners correctly.
6. Raises several BSP/rendering limits and buffers to reduce crashes and problems on maps with a very large number of lit surfaces.
7. Fixes mirrored Fatness rendering so Fatness > 128 no longer appears inverted in mirrors.
8. Adds a runtime profiler/overlay showing FPS, frame/render timing, mesh problems, Hybrid Z usage, current frame statistics and overlay cost. Useful for finding heavy areas on maps.
9. Adds an overlay panel editor — hold Ctrl + Alt to move panels, resize them, or enable/disable them.
10. Adds ShowCollision for drawing actor collision cylinders by NAME= or CLASS=.
11. Adds ShowPaths for drawing nearby AI/navigation paths around the player.

ShowPaths supports two color schemes:

1. DX — classic Deus Ex / old UnrealEd style colors.
2. UT469 — Unreal Tournament 469-style path colors.

A built-in help overlay for the new console commands is included in the mod. Open the console and type RENDEXT GRAPH ON and the help panel will appear together with the other overlays.

How to install the mod

Simply copy RenderExtended.dll into DeusEx\System, then edit DeusEx.ini or your mod's ini file and replace the line Render=Render.Render with Render=RenderExtended.RenderExtended
