X4: Foundations - Game Mod - X Rebirth Ambient Music v.1.0.1 - Download

X Rebirth Ambient Music is a mod for X4: Foundations, created by Ziev217.

Description (in author’s own words):

Adds ambient music tracks from X Rebirth to X4 Foundations. Does not replace existing X4 Foundations ambient music tracks.

Installation Instructions

Create a folder named "extensions" at the root of your X4 Foundations game location if you do not already have one. If you downloaded from steam, the X4 Foundations game folder may be located here:

?C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\X4 Foundations\extensions

If you downloaded the game from GOG, your game folder may be located somewhere in your "C:\Program Files (x86)" folder or wherever you installed the game.

Download and extract the contents of the "X_Rebirth_Ambient_Music.zip" file to your "extensions" folder.

The hierarchy should be as follows.

????ext_01.dat

Ensure the mod is enabled in-game in the extensions menu from the main menu.

Uninstall Instructions

To uninstall simply delete the "X_Rebirth_Ambient_Music" folder in your extensions. Your music files will revert back to the original X4 Foundations ambient music selection. To my knowledge this mod is save game compatible and safe to add and remove.

Conflicts

This mod will conflict with any other mod that alters the "libraries\sound_library.xml" file, specifically any entries related to the cluster music selection.

In addition to the 7 ambient tracks already included with X4 Foundations, this increases the total number of ambient tracks to 18. The ambient tracks chosen were the most atmospheric and abstract, no tracks that contained traditional music composition were selected (if that makes sense). I've added the selection to all clusters that utilized a random playlist of ambient tracks already in the game with the exception of sectors containing a single ambient track listing. This was under the assumption that the developers intended the player to hear that one specific ambient track upon entering that specific sector.
