Our list also includes a title intended for a younger audience. Origin: Spirits of the Past is also known as Silver-Haired Agito. It's a story about young people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by vegetation. Undoubtedly, this is an interesting vision of the future, with some amazing animations and a beautiful soundtrack brought by Gonzo studio. After watching this production, you will never be able to look at plants in the same way.

The action of the film goes some 300 years into the future. As a result of genetic experiments and the unexpected invasion of Moon flora, the Earth changes dramatically. We meet a boy named Agito who lives in Neutral City, a sort of a bridge between the Forest and its arch-enemy, the military city-state, Laguna. One day, Agito meets Toola – a girl from the past, whose task is to rebuild civilization.

Future in Origin: Spirits of the Past

Origin: Spirits of the Past presents an ecological apocalypse that only a handful of people survive. Although we will not find radioactive mutants and other elements characteristic of the post-apo genre, survival in a world dominated by intelligent plants is not all that easy. It's an anime where nothing is black-and-white, and the ecological message that the story carries with it definitely makes it worth your time.
