- What it should be: an epic tale of Asgard's rivalry with Olympus and... Thor with Hercules
- What would interest viewers to begin with: competing superheroes from Journey into Mystery Annual
The introduction to the MCU Eternals may be a good excuse to expand the pantheon of Marvel deities to include Hercules. Modeled after Heracles (because after all, Hercules is a bit of a Roman remake of the Greek original), the hero could take on the burden of several solo films and at least replace Thor when Chris Hemsworth no longer wants to continue the adventure with the MCU.
Greek mythology has perhaps even more potential in this respect than Norse mythology. Odin has been used in every possible way by modern popular culture. Zeus hasn't. If we add the fact that the father of Zeus, and the grandfather of Hercules – Kronos – is in Marvel one of the most important Eternals and... Thanos's uncle, it soon becomes clear that Kevin Feige can turn this into a superhero The Bold and the Beautiful saga as the story of Skywalker.
The Cinema Spot announced that the appearance of Hercules in the MCU is not so far away in the future and he will debut in one of the already emerging series, Thor 4 or Eternals. If this turns out to be true, we will most likely meet him as an anti-hero, a rival of Thor, who will eventually become one of the Avengers, as it happened in the comics. Interestingly, like his mythological counterpart, the Marvel hero is also bisexual. He had affairs with She-Hulk or – in an alternate universe - with Wolverine. He can also boast of a lot of children. His grandson is another character with the potential for his own series or even a movie - King Eurypylus. However, due to his lower popularity, we should not expect it to appear in the MCU in the near future. Hercules will join the Avengers for sure. The only question is when.
