Action games. Wide category of games that require reflex, accuracy and agility. It includes, among other things, shooters (e.g. Call of Duty and Battlefield series) and action-adventure games (Tomb Raider). First and third person perspective (FPP/TPP) is used. In most cases we are playing as a character who has to defeat some enemies and reach a specific point. We can use a wide range of weapons, including pistols, rocket launchers, swords, knives and like. Action-adventure is a particular category within action games genre. Such titles put less emphasis on action and combat, focusing more on story, exploration and puzzles.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004)

The third major installment in the stealth game series developed and published by Konami and a continuation of the Metal Gear franchise, created by Hideo Kojima back in the eighties. The game takes place in 1964 on Soviet Union territory. The player becomes a special operative, code-named Snake, whose current task is to extract a Russian scientist working on a mobile, nuclear-capable launch platform.
Quake III: Revolution

The first console installment of the very popular FPS series. The title combines the traits of the basic edition of Quake III: Arena with the novelties implemented in the Team Arena expansion. Similarly as its PC archetype, Quake III: Revolution concentrates mostly on its six multiplayer modes, which allow up to four players to play simultaneously on a split screen. Thirty partially original maps and twelve weapons are available in the game.

The player directs the actions of one of the two playable characters, a Streak agent or Moon agent, and his task is to prevent the escalation of local armed conflict. More than 50 combat vehicles with different properties were made available to the heroes.

The player takes on the role of a terrorist or a special police unit officer and carries out a number of missions, depending on the choice made. The gameplay was designed mainly for multiplayer clashes, although the creators have also foreseen the possibility of competing with computer artificial intelligence.

The general gameplay principles haven’t changed, but Unreal Tournament 2003 introduces many improvements and changes to the series, including new gameplay modes, a expanded set of standard and special movements and the possibility to use various vehicles.
