The main cons of the game

  • Removal of Features: Many players express dissatisfaction with the removal of unique features (e.g., modular vehicles and weapons, jars for water collection) that were present in earlier versions, leading to a perception that the game has become more generic and less engaging.
  • Repetitive Gameplay: Some users note that the gameplay can become repetitive over time, especially concerning quests and base-building strategies, leading to boredom after a certain point.
  • Bugs and Technical Issues: Players report encountering numerous bugs, glitches, and connection issues, particularly with multiplayer gameplay, which detracts from the overall experience.
  • Forced Playstyle: Many reviews mention that the game now feels linear, pushing players into specific ways of playing rather than allowing for the freedom and creativity that characterized earlier versions.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Realistic Survival Mechanics: Players want the return of more realistic survival elements, such as temperature effects and the ability to collect and reuse items like jars for water.
  • Diverse Zombie Behavior: Users miss the variety of zombie types and behaviors that were present in earlier versions, with many expressing a desire for the return of specific zombies that added to the game's challenge.
  • Stealth Mechanics: The removal or alteration of stealth gameplay mechanics in new Points of Interest (POIs) has frustrated players who enjoyed the strategic element of sneaking past enemies.
  • Lore and Story Elements: Some players feel that the game lacks depth in terms of lore and storytelling, particularly in the context of the environment and the reasons for the apocalypse.
  • In-Game Events: Users suggest adding more dynamic events (e.g., weather changes, random encounters) to enhance the gameplay experience beyond the current structure.

Summary

  • Overall, while 7 Days to Die has a dedicated player base and offers many engaging features, significant changes and removals in recent updates have led to dissatisfaction among long-time fans, who feel that the game has strayed from its original appeal.
