The simulation strategy game Adaptory was strongly inspired by titles such as Oxygen Not Included and Rimworld. It is the debut project of the independent studio Stormcloak Games. This side-view survival game was created thanks to the funding from the New Zealand government.

Gameplay

Each game begins with an emergency landing of four explorers on an asteroid. Using limited resources and their creativity, we must explore the surroundings, construct a thriving base, rebuild the ship and ultimately return home.

Adaptory emphasizes characters that are newly generated with each playthrough. Crew members come from different backgrounds, each with their own traits and personalities that determine their behavior during the game. For example, a twenty-year-old builder might be organized but have a fear of the dark, while a clever middle-aged electrician might be nervous and grumpy towards their companions.
