After the Fall is an FPS designed for VR goggle users, set in the post-apocalyptic United States. The developer of the title is Vertigo Games, which specializes in the development of VR technology. In 2016, the team has released the FPS Arizona Sunshine, as well as After the Fall created for Oculus Rift goggles.

Plot

After the Fall takes place in the alternative rendition of the year 2005, twenty years after the apocalyptic catclysm that originated in the pandemic caused by the introduction of dangerous boosters to the market, with time turning people into mindless beasts called Snowbreed. Players traverse the frozen ruins of Los Angeles as one of the few survivors hiding deep beneath the city's surface. To survive and fight the monsters, they use gadgets and weapons utilizing technology from the 1980s.

PlayStation Universe: 7.5 / 10 by John-Paul Jones

The definitive version of After The Fall thanks in no small part to the impressive capabilities leveraged by the PSVR2 hardware, After The Fall: Complete Edition still makes its mark as a roundly enjoyable VR shooter, albeit one that comes slightly unstuck thanks to some dodgy AI and not quite enough maps or unique modes for players to get their teeth into over the long-term.

WellPlayed: 7 / 10 by Adam Ryan

Aping great co-op shooters like Left 4 Dead but in the VR space, After the Fall provides a fun yet fleeting experience that could do with more to do.

Like I said at the outset, After the Fall is a fun game albeit a very short one. Yes, there is an extra PvP Team-Deathmatch mode that is moderately fun if you like VR multiplayer shooters. I found it very passable, no real issue other than I just want a fan; but if you like the VR shooters like Pavlov among many others then you may have some fun in the deathmatch. The story for the game is really just an excuse to team up with friends, and that’s ok because whether you play with friends or random folks like me After the Fall does enough to make your time spent with it feel enjoyable; and really isn’t that all we really want from our video games?
