A flight arcade shooter that allows us to control futuristic fighters and take up the fight for global security. The game, developed by an indie studio called Lazy Burn Games, is set in a science fiction world – the players participate in a fictional conflict on which the future of the entire world depends. As a pilot we not only have to face enemy fighters but also other units, including bombers and powerful frigates.

Air Guardians, available on PC, is a flight arcade shooter set in a science fiction world. We control a futuristic fighter and participate in battles for global security. The game was developed by an indie studio, Lazy Bum Games.

Plot

The story, presented in cut-scenes, isn't that elaborate. In a non-specified future the Earth is ruled by a global government that tries to authorize its rules by securing domination in outer space. The government creates a special unit of advanced fighter jets and one of them is given to a player.

Mechanics

Air Guardians' gameplay focuses on dynamic fights in airspace where players have to face various units: from small bombers to powerful frigates and carriers. Our machine can use three different types of weapons: a heavy machine gun and two types of rockets – one is for smaller and the second one is for bigger enemies. The campaign is divided into six extensive missions and each one of them is further divided into a few acts. The missions offer a variety of gameplay – we have to intercept enemy units, bombard headquarters during a night or participate in large-scale battles with multiple enemies. However, some of the tasks take place in space and on Earth's orbit.

Technical aspects

Air Guardians' gameplay is arcade and the simplified controls (we can learn them from a short tutorial) are only used for controlling a direction of our flight, using weapons and changing camera view. The graphics, achieved by Unity engine, are acceptable – they offer detailed models of planes and various and rather realistic terrains.
