American Truck Simulator: Kansas is the twelth major expansion to 2016's truck driving simulator, American Truck Simulator. It was developed by SCS Software, the same studio as the base game.

Mechanics

American Truck Simulator: Arkansas is set in the titular "natural state". The map features three massive national forests, over 40 state parks and many streams and rivers, the biggest of which are Arkansas and Mississippi. Driving on the roads, we can admire the Ozark Plateau and the beautiful Ouachita Mountains. There are many cities and towns scattered across the state, between which we'll transport goods and complete assignments.

  • Limited Content: Several users mention a lack of variety in cargo types and trailer options, particularly regarding Arkansas's poultry industry.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Additional Cities: Players express disappointment over the absence of notable cities like Bentonville and Rogers, which are significant for their economic contributions (e.g., Walmart and Tyson Foods headquarters).
  • More Cargo Variety: Users wish for the inclusion of more transportable cargo types relevant to the region, particularly related to the poultry industry.
  • Enhanced Realism in Roads: There are calls for improved realism in the depiction of certain hazardous roads and driving conditions that reflect the true nature of Arkansas's highways.
  • Expanded Map Connections: Some players feel that the DLC feels incomplete without connections to neighboring states, limiting exploration and gameplay options.

Summary

  • Overall, while the Arkansas DLC for American Truck Simulator has received praise for its visual enhancements and detailed environments, it also faces criticism for its size, limited content, and certain inaccuracies in road representation.
