Angry Birds Journey is a puzzle and arcade game, which is the next part of the series developed by Rovio. The game is a return to the classic game mechanics known from the first parts of the series. The game is distributed in the free-to-play model.
In terms of game mechanics, Angry Birds Journey is reminiscent of Angry Birds 2, released in 2015. The player's task is to shoot the birds from a slingshot in order to eliminate the pigs on screen. However, achieving the goal is made difficult by the limited number of possible shots and various types of structures made of materials such as ice or rocks. To complete a level successfully you need to "clear" several smaller arenas.
Along with the progress in the game players get access to different birds. Each type of bird has its own special ability, such as creating bubbles that lift objects on the board. Unlike previous installments in the series, these skills are activated automatically upon contact with a structure. Additionally, for each level completed, the player receives special coins and rewards.
Angry Birds Journey features cartoon-like, 2D graphics.
