For many years, catching creatures was associated almost exclusively with the Pokemon series. Over time, this has changed, and more and more productions with this theme began to appear on the industry map. Among them is an RPG titled Aniimo, behind which is the Chinese team Pawprint Studio. The item is distributed in a free-to-play model with micropayments.
In Aniimo we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game we play as one of the so-called Pathfinders and find ourselves in the world of Idyll, inhabited by humans and the title creatures known as Aniimo. Exploring this land, we experience various adventures, which involve getting to know its inhabitants and performing tasks, catching potwork and dueling with other Pathfinders.
The continent, in which we can find both picturesque open-air locations and settlements and a sky-high metropolis, can be freely traveled, moving on land, in the air and underwater. We use special Aniipods to grab Aniimo. We can do this actively or passively, setting traps and waiting for the desired creatures to fall into them. The occurrence of Aniimo depends on the area in which we go hunting, or on weather conditions or time of day.
The game is worth the candle, as each Aniimo has unique strengths and abilities. We make use of them, fighting dynamic duels with other creatures and solving puzzles or overcoming platform challenges. In addition, the production allows us not only to give orders to our charges, but also to take direct control over them. And if we take proper care of them, they evolve, developing their abilities.
In breaks from great adventures, we can catch our breath by relaxing in an RV. Camping is a special place in the open world where we meet and interact with other players. The real base camp, on the other hand, is Homeland, where we plant plants and use decorations, adapting them to individual needs and preferences.
Aniimo allows for single player gameplay or multiplayer over the Internet. We can both compete and cooperate with other players. Egg Heist mode, based on PvEvP rules and designed for gameplay in teams of three, is waiting to be tested.
