Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is the first entry in the series of popular life simulators created by Nintendo. The game was released on AND and iOS and it uses free-to-play distribution model with microtransactions.
The game enables the player to assume the role of a manager of a summer camp and it features traits of simulation game, adventure game and economic strategy game. The game starts with player creating his or her character by selecting, among other things, gender, skin color, eyes and hairs. The game features a large map filled with activities and places to explore. Among the available locations there is a forest, a beach, area near a river, an island. Traditionally for the series, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for AND and iOS features a day and night cycle. The changes of the time of day impact available options, events and behavior of guests and animals.
During the game the player is gathering resources that can later be used for creating various objects and items that can serve the guests. Among these objects there’s furniture, swimming pools, playgrounds, decorations, plants and even whole houses. The protagonist lives in a camper, interior of which can be modified as well.
The game enables the player to create friendships with non-playable characters by completing important tasks and making sure that the camp meets their requirements. It is also possible to invite other players for a trip. The game also features a market where characters known from console entries in the series are selling various goods.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for AND and iOS features simple and nice looking three-dimensional graphics. They were created with the use of a specific style that is also present in console entries in the series.
