A sequel to the 2016 sci-fi RTS. Ashes of the Singularity 2 takes us to the near future and focuses on a huge conflict between humans, post-humans and forces commanded by the AI. The game features a story campaign and we can also participate in multiplayer and in quick matches.

In 2016, Stardock released a science fiction RTS titled Ashes of the Singularity. The game received a moderately warm reception, and over the next few months it received a number of add-ons (led by a standalone expansion titled Escalation). Years later, the company commissioned the Oxide Games team (known for the project Ara: History Untold) to prepare a sequel to their work. That's how Ashes of the Singularity 2 was created.

Gameplay

In Ashes of the Singularity II we watch the action from a bird's eye view. The pillar of the gameplay is conducting battles on a massive scale, during which we command large armies consisting of thousands of units. Entire continents are battlefields in the game. During the skirmishes, in which we lead infantry, vehicles, airplanes and other machines, not only buildings are destroyed, but also the terrain changes.

Story and sides of conflict

The action of Ashes of the Singularity 2 takes place in the near future. Artificial intelligence has entered the battle for control over the world and a substance known as Turinium (significantly accelerating technological development), which has spread throughout the Solar System. The game gives us three sides of the conflict at our disposal.

People from the United Earth Forces declare war on AI and posthumans, trying to neutralize the former and bring the latter to trial.
The artificial intelligence led by Haalee (Substrate) intends to imprison humans on the surface of the Earth, as well as to prevent post-humans from bringing about their own destruction, as well as that of everyone else.
The Coalition of Posthumans residing on the Moon (they are human beings enhanced by AI) wants to thwart the plans of their adversaries, ensuring the possibility of further development.

Coop and other game modes

Ashes of the Singularity II offers a story campaign, in which we lead the forces of humanity against post-humans and artificial intelligence. The quick action mode was made available, allowing us to engage in skirmishes with units controlled by AI. There is also a multiplayer mode, allowing for competition or cooperation with other players over the Internet.
