Asphalt 9: Legends is a mobile racing game developed by Gameloft – the studio responsible for all previous installments of the series and side projects such as Asphalt Overdrive, Asphalt Nitro, Asphalt Xtreme, or Asphalt Street Storm Racing. Interestingly enough, Asphalt 9: Legends utilizes a free-to-play model with microtransactions.
The game enables us to assume control over world’s fastest racing cars. The authors have managed to acquire licenses of many producers, allowing us to drive machines from manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, or W Motors. In all, we can try over fifty varied vehicles.
Asphalt 9: Legends sports an arcade driving model – the emphasis was put on breakneck speeds and easy turns rather than realism. Once the nitro bar is filled in full, we can utilize it to become faster than sound, while the list of the available maneuvers includes a 360-degree turn, especially useful when engaging opponents. The players can choose one of seventy tracks – most of them contain ramps that allow us to perform crazy stunts. We are also subjected to local hazards such as tornadoes on tracks taking place in the United States or avalanches in the Himalayas.
The game offers two control schemes. One of them is a classic mobile racing scheme offering full control over the car. Newbies can try a second system that was inspired by endless runners in which the car accelerates automatically, while the player can change the current lane by pressing a button.
We can take part in a career mode that offers over sixty seasons consisting of eight hundred races. We are also left with a multiplayer mode for up to eight players. The authors prepared complex community options that revolve around the creation of online racing clubs.
