Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 is a three-dimensional platform game. It is a new entry in the popular series that includes Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum from 2005 and its remastered edition Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 that debuted thirteen years later. Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 was developed by OSome Studio, the creators of the above-mentioned remastered game.
As the title suggests, the game is based on the Asterix comic book series created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.
Similarly to the comic book, the game tells the story of Asterix and Obelix who live in the only village in Gaul that wasn’t conquered by the Roman Empire. Its inhabitants are able to defend themselves thanks to the magic elixir that provides them with an inhuman strength.
Asterix & Obelix XXL3 expands on the ideas from the previous entries in the series. The game is a three-dimensional platform game that provides the players with a complete freedom of exploration. During the game, the players are exploring locations, avoiding obstacles and traps, and fighting enemies by using a simple combat system.
The protagonists are traveling as a duo. The players are directly controlling only one of them – the other is controlled by an artificial intelligence. It is possible to switch freely between the characters. It is a key aspect of the game because the characters differ from each other greatly. Asterix is weaker but more agile while Obelix is slow and heavy, but powerful.
The game features attractive, three-dimensional graphics filled with bright colors and a cartoon-like style.
