A third-person jRPG with a turn-based combat system and manga graphics. Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian belongs to a series dating back to 1997. We explore dungeons, participate in battles with opponents, craft items within a synthesis process, and reconstruct the city.
Atelier series was started in 1997. Since then, its development has been mainly handled by the Japanese studio Gust. Over the years, a number of sub-series have been created within its scope, one of which is Atelier Resleriana, the second installment of which is the jRPG described here, titled Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian.
In Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian, we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
The game takes us to the fantasy-themed continent of Lantarna. We play as two heroes who, after a mysterious disaster struck the city of Hallfein years ago, were banished from it. Now the protagonists are returning home to participate in its reconstruction, as well as to learn the truth about the events that took place here in the past. As they progress, other characters join them, who are guided by similar goals.
The continent of Lantarna is filled with procedurally generated dungeons called Dimensional Paths. While exploring them, we must face the challenges prepared for us, as well as confront our opponents. We engage in turn-based fights with enemies, positioning our characters in two lines, utilizing their unique abilities, and also linking their attacks into combinations.
The dungeons we visit hide valuable ingredients, which we then use in the synthesis process, allowing us to create items. The results depend on what Gift Colors we will combine with each other, as well as what ingredients we will use.
Items created in this way can then be sold in our store to contribute to the reconstruction and development of the city. As we progress, we also gain access to new recipes, which in turn allows us to push the story forward.
The graphic design of Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian is maintained in a manga style.

Game Ratings for Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian Video Game.
LadiesGamers.com: by Yvonne van Geloven
I have hesitated quite a while before giving my final verdict. I love that with Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist and the White Guardian, Gust catered to us fans of the original series. As I understand it, this doesn’t mean that they won’t move along in the direction taken with Atelier Yumia; the two can exist very well together. In the end, I decided on our highest rating. The turn-based fights, the new alchemy system and the depth of the characters and NPCs, plus the added Fairies and their hard work, make this an excellent cozy addition to the Atelier series.
Push Square: 7 / 10 by Sammy Barker
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian succeeds through the strength of the sum of its parts. Its story and dialogue are a bit obtrusive at points, but the simple loop of fashioning items to flog them to forge even better ones is compelling. With strategic turn-based combat and breezy presentation, this is an overall enjoyable RPG time sink – even if its character designs and anime tropes may immediately turn some players away.
NoobFeed: 75 / 100 by Nusrat Choity
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian feels like a party and a new beginning for the series. Following the experimental detour of Atelier Yumia, this entry reassures fans by returning to its roots while still being modern enough to welcome new players.
