A remastered edition of Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea, originally released on PlayStation3 in 2014 and developed by Gust. Compared to the original, the game includes all the expansions, several new episodes, additional enemies, changes in the journal, and more character customization options.
Atelier Shallie Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea on PSV is an improved version of Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea, available on PlayStation 3. As for the gameplay, this version doesn't differ from the original. However, it does feature several new episodes expanding the storyline. In addition, there are additional enemies, more options to customize your character's appearance and an improved diary. This version also comes with all the DLCs released on PlayStation 3. The title was released in digital distribution, but the NIS America store sells a collector's edition containing a 48-page artbook, soundtrack, a unique cloth with the game's protagonists (Shallotte and Shallistera) and the game itself on a physical disk.
Atelier Shallie Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea was developed by Gust. This experienced developer has been operating on the market since 1993. Over the following years, it has specialized itself in producing RPG games. The developer is also known for Ar tonelico and Surge Concerto games.
When starting the game, we choose one of the two young protagonists - Shallister Argo or Shallotte Elminus. This decision allows us to get to know the story from different perspectives. Shallister is a representative of a small clan cultivating ancient alchemy traditions and living far from civilization. The girl sets off on a journey to help her family. Shallotte, on the other hand, runs an alchemical workshop inherited from her father, located in a small oasis in the middle of a dried-up sea. However, the inexperienced alchemist dreams of fame of an adventurer and wealth. The two heroines meet and decide to cooperate, discovering the secrets of the dying world in which they live.
Atelier Shallie Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea, available on PSV, rejects the system of time limits known from previous games of this series. Players no longer have to worry about the calendar and deadlines for the individual orders. Instead, they carry out missions that are the "life goals" of our character. Their realization results in changes in the game's world and increases the abilities and statistics of the heroines. Of course, we still perform numerous quests and story missions.
During the exploration, we collect materials for alchemical synthesis and fight against dangerous creatures. For the first time in the series, players are free to operate the camera while exploring locations. The turn-based combat system allows you to use items, special attacks, and abilities of the characters. In the workshop, we create new items using recipes that were developed by us, found or purchased, mixing ingredients and selecting the features they provide.
