Athanasia is a first-person action survival horror game. The project was developed by Momentum Games studio. It belongs to the category called immersive simand takes inspiration from System Shock and Deus Ex series.

Plot

Player takes on the role of a researcher named Carmen Flores, who is sent to North America with a mission to explain the case of a mysterious facility, near which inexplicable disappearances occur all too often. She discovers on the spot that the center was engaged in experiments related to time travel.

The heroine must find out what exactly happened at this facility and face threats from both prehistory and the far future.

Mechanics

Athanasia is an action game, in which events are observed from first person perspective. During the game we explore maps, collect items and fight with enemies, both with firearms and cold weapons. The player can also use the stealth approach.

The game takes full advantage of the survival horror genre. Enemies are powerful, and we never have too much ammunition. Therefore, the player must manage resources sparingly, and often avoiding detection or setting traps is better than direct confrontation.

Immersive sim elements were also added to all this. The maps are highly non-linear. Many paths lead to the goal, and each task can be completed in several alternative ways. Moreover, the artificial intelligence of enemies is very complex and reacts dynamically to our actions.
