Beat Me! is a party action game that combines a fighting game with platformer elements. The production was developed by the independent Polish team Red Limb Studio, known mainly for Rise of the Insanity. This time the creators were inspired by the Super Smash Bros. series, as well as Gang Beats and Stick Fight: The Game released in 2017.

Mechanics

The production is based on a similar scheme as the Super Smash Bros. series. for Nintendo consoles. The action is watched from the side as if in a classic platformer, and we play on various boards. Up to six players are fighting against each other, trying to eliminate the remaining participants or score as many points as possible. Unlike Nintendo fighting game, characters have life points. So if we don't want to play with throwing enemies outside the arena in the style of Super Smash Bros., nothing prevents us from getting rid of enemies with a shot from a bow, a sword, or a well-placed spell, depending on the selected class of hero (mage, warrior, etc.). As a result, the clashes do not last very long, allowing for a quick play of several skirmishes.

The gameplay is based on a system of reliable physics, used in combat and on each of more than 100 arenas. Here we will find arenas located in ruins in the jungle, on a floating ship, a distant planet and many other places. Each of them has its own environmental elements, such as wooden footbridges, falling asteroids, or death traps that we can use to gain an advantage in battle. The game is additionally varied with special power-ups that move around the arena in the form of lights and allow you to perform more powerful attacks, restore health, or turn your character into a powerful demon.

Game modes

The developers have taken care to provide a variety of game modes, including the classic deathmatch. Beat Me! allows up to six people to play in shared screen mode or over the Internet.

Technical aspects

Beat Me! uses colorful, slightly angular graphics. All this is clear enough that we have no problem understanding what is happening on the screen. The game is accompanied by simple music, depending on the location, which warms us in battle or - more often - brings a relaxing atmosphere.

The game allows two people to play on the same keyboard, but also offers full controller support. In addition, production offers a cross-platform online mode.
