A psychological horror, in which the players assume the role of a psychology doctor who is trying to solve the mystery of the disappearance of his wife and child. In Rise of Insanity, the gameplay revolves around traversing frightening locations in search for clues and solving environmental puzzles.
Rise of Insanity is a psychological horror developed by the Independent Polish Red Limb Studio.
In Rise of Insanity the action is set in the United States back in the 1970s. The main protagonist is Stephen Dowell, a renowned psychology doctor, whose family went missing in a mysterious way. The police officers investigating their disappearance do not rule out that Stephen's wife and child were murdered. Thus, the main protagonist decides to take matters into his own hands – his only suspect is his own patient suffering from a number mental disorders not connected to one another. Dowell decides to use this patient a subject for experimental treatment methods, and as a result, he discovers the darkest areas of his patient's mind. Interestingly enough, upon starting the game players know very little of the main protagonist's past, nonetheless, new pieces of his life story (that might shed some light on the investigation) are discovered all throughout his adventure.
In Rise of Insanity, players observe the action from the first-person perspective (FPP). The most important aspect of the gameplay is the exploration of places such as outdoor locations suffused with falling sunlight as well as grim insides of halls, and hospital wards. Multiple locations hide certain anomalies experienced by the main protagonist e.g. by gaining the ability to levitate. Moreover, on their adventures, players have to carefully investigate their surroundings in search for clues shedding a new light on the mystery they are trying to solve (such as the notes hidden in different drawers). Occasionally, one is bound to encounter relatively simple environmental puzzles.
Rise of Insanity delivers decent visuals as well as the atmospheric soundtrack that manage to build up the tension. The game supports virtual reality headgear, however, it is not necessary for the game to work; in order to increase to immersion, the developers did not implement the usual movement system based on teleportation.

Game Ratings for Rise of Insanity Video Game.
TechRaptor: 3 / 10 by Jesse Gomez
Rise of Insanity is a complete mess of a horror game that shows little care to its genre, its players, and those who suffer from a mental illness.
Game News Plus: 7.2 / 10
Only if the story was more unpredictable, that would be something unique. But it is still worth to give a shot and try it.
Nindie Spotlight: 7 / 10 by Justin Nation
Walking simulators as horror are always a bit weird, but I can understand why some people appreciate them...
