Release Date: TBA
A third-person action RPG with soulslike mechanics, developed by the Chinese studio Game Science. Black Myth: Zhong Kui is the second game from the Black Myth brand, following the insanely popular Wukong from 2024. The new game is singleplayer and it allows us to play as the titular hunter of demons and evil spirits.
Black Myth: Wukong was an action RPG with soulslike elements. It was released in August 2024 and stormed to the top of the charts, enjoying high ratings and equally high sales figures. So it's no wonder that the Chinese studio Game Science, which stands behind the original, decided to follow the path it set, creating another game of this type. The sequel is also drawing from the mythology of the Middle Kingdom.
The new project was titled Black Myth: Zhong Kui. At the time of its announcement, it was at a very early stage of production. In an official statement, the developers only admitted that they recently started working on it.
At the time of publishing the first trailer, the developers were only able to say this much about their project, that they want to create a singleplayer action RPG. The creators did not hide the fact that Black Myth: Zhong Kui will be based on the pillars established by Black Myth: Wukong.
Despite this, we can expect various differences caused by, for example, a change of the main character. The protagonist of Black Myth: Zhong Kui became the titular Zhong Kui. We're talking about a character from Chinese mythology, who is engaged in hunting demons and evil spirits. So it can be expected that the motif of eliminating creatures not from this world will play the first fiddle in the game.
