Shoot 'em up and platformer game, kept in retro style. In Blaster Master Zero 3 we play as Jason, who travels through various stages (on foot or by vehicle) and eliminates hordes of enemies.
Blaster Master Zero 3 is the next part of the series of platform shoot'em ups, started in 1988, and at the same time the third installment of the Zero sub-series, started in 2017. It was developed by Inti Creates studio, which has in its portfolio such projects as games under the Gal*Gun , Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon or Azure Striker Gunvolt brands.
The main hero of Blaster Master Zero 3 is Jason, a hero known from the previous parts of the series. One last task awaits the protagonist, which is to save his partner - Eve. To complete it, the hero has to return to the place where his journey began, the planet Sophia.
As in previous installments of the series, gameplay in Blaster Master Zero 3 is based on two pillars. When we control the protagonist's vehicle, we observe the action from the side, and the game consists of jumping on platforms, avoiding numerous traps and shooting enemies. However, when Jason leaves the machine, his actions are presented from the top-down view, and the game becomes a simple shoot'em up, in which we dash ahead and eliminate hosts of enemies. Struggles in both modes are varied by skirmishes with powerful bosses. What's more, as you progress, you develop both Jason and his vehicle, which increases your combat potential and allows you to face more challenges.
Blaster Master Zero 3 is deeply rooted in the retro sphere not only in terms of mechanics, but also the audiovisual layer. The colourful graphics of this game have been designed using the pixel art technique.

Game Ratings for Blaster Master Zero 3 Video Game.
Nintendo Life: 9 / 10 by Mitch Vogel
As the conclusion to the modern take on the Blaster Master saga, Blaster Master Zero 3 hits all the notes it needs to deliver a high octane and satisfying retro platforming experience. The dark world mechanic adds a nice extra layer to the overall design, while the familiar aspects of gameplay are as polished as they've ever been. Inti Creates certainly could've stopped with the original Blaster Master Zero and that would've been enough, but what it's delivered here with its third take on the franchise is nothing short of excellent. Whenever you next get a chance, be sure to add this one to your library, although we'd say so with the caveat that you should first play the preceding two entries. Really, these games are just that good.
Seafoam Gaming: 9 / 10 by Connor Nichols
After 100%ing Blaster Master Zero 2 and watching the cliffhanger, I was so longing for the end of this epic tale, a situation that 10-year-ago me would have completely disbelieved would have happened in relation to the NES game which terrified the crap out of me! But now two and a half years later, that cliffhanger has concluded, and I have to say, it really surpassed my expectations, working great as a throwback to the rest of the series and the pinnacle of the constantly evolving level design and boss fights, leading to some of the most challenging, yet fair experiences I’ve had with a metroidvania in a very long time.
Destructoid: 7 / 10 by Chris Carter
Despite some gripes, the legacy of this trilogy is fully secure. Inti Creates can kind of keep making these types of platformers indefinitely, and I’d keep playing them.
