Shoot 'em up and platformer game, kept in retro style. In Blaster Master Zero 3 we play as Jason, who travels through various stages (on foot or by vehicle) and eliminates hordes of enemies.
Blaster Master Zero 3 is the next part of the series of platform shoot'em ups, started in 1988, and at the same time the third installment of the Zero sub-series, started in 2017. It was developed by Inti Creates studio, which has in its portfolio such projects as games under the Gal*Gun , Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon or Azure Striker Gunvolt brands.
The main hero of Blaster Master Zero 3 is Jason, a hero known from the previous parts of the series. One last task awaits the protagonist, which is to save his partner - Eve. To complete it, the hero has to return to the place where his journey began, the planet Sophia.
As in previous installments of the series, gameplay in Blaster Master Zero 3 is based on two pillars. When we control the protagonist's vehicle, we observe the action from the side, and the game consists of jumping on platforms, avoiding numerous traps and shooting enemies. However, when Jason leaves the machine, his actions are presented from the top-down view, and the game becomes a simple shoot'em up, in which we dash ahead and eliminate hosts of enemies. Struggles in both modes are varied by skirmishes with powerful bosses. What's more, as you progress, you develop both Jason and his vehicle, which increases your combat potential and allows you to face more challenges.
Blaster Master Zero 3 is deeply rooted in the retro sphere not only in terms of mechanics, but also the audiovisual layer. The colourful graphics of this game have been designed using the pixel art technique.

Nindie Spotlight: 8 / 10 by Justin Nation
One of the surprise redux hits in this generation has been the return of the Blaster Master series with the Zero titles, which have managed to carefully respect the essence of the original game while fleshing elements that were less notable out further...

Blaster Master Zero 3 is a fitting end to a wonderful series of games. It’s not without its flaws, namely occasional bouts of brutal difficulty and controls that could have been tightened up a tad, but overall, it’s quite the romp. Fans of the series should absolutely check out the conclusion, and newcomers should totally give it a gander - although I’d still advise playing 1 and 2 first.

This is one of those games where you don’t need to wait for a sale. $15 is not a high asking price for this game. It’s a steal, in my opinion. It took me approx. 17 hours to complete the game to 100% though that’s with including me being completely stumped. You’ll be able to finish the main campaign in about 5-6 hours. With another 2-3 to tackle the final area. The rest of my time was spent searching for how to access the true ending. So, a casual playthrough will probably last about 7-9 hours. And trust me, Blaster Master Zero III is an enjoyable 7-9 hours. Here’s hoping that this is not the end for this fantastic franchise or its cast.
