Retro shooters have gained so much popularity that the term "boomer shooter" has become popular. An independent developer using the pseudonym Blargis decided to prepare a project that is a variation on this theme, in which rifles and shotguns are replaced by a sword and crossbow. We're talking about an incredibly fast "boomer slasher" titled Bloodthief.

Gameplay

In Bloodthief the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP).

Fast gameplay in fantasy locations

During the game, we enter a fantasy world and take on the character who explores fortresses, dungeons, and other locations inspired by the Middle Ages. Our main goal is to complete levels in the shortest possible time.

In order to achieve this, we run on walls and bounce off them, jump over chasms, and eliminate the enemies standing in our way. As in any game focused on speedruns, we must demonstrate agility, perceptiveness, reflexes, and excellent knowledge of the levels.

Blood of enemies as a source of power

We send adversaries to the dust, making use of the aforementioned sword and other melee arsenal, or long-range weapons in the form of crossbows. Enemies are not just an obstacle, because their blood affects our abilities and it can increase our speed. The icing on the cake are shortcuts, paths, and secrets that are waiting to be discovered on each level.
